CATHARTIC ODYSSEY
"Cathartic Odyssey" is an immersive multi-stage mixed reality installation using a custom¹ Spatial Augmented Reality(AR) platform woven within an interactive open-ended narrative, complex dynamic scenery, and a graphic novel primer. After reading the graphic novel, each viewer will go through a different individual journey of discovery, contemplation, and rediscovery that's formed based on their actions, choices, and what they pay attention to. The subject of what everyone sees remains the same as they go through the stages of the experience: each stage pushes the story forward not by pushing new content but forming new contexts for viewers to interpret what they have experienced and what they are about to experience. Viewers don't need to learn or wear anything because this installation adapts itself to every individual's physicality as an attempt for an interactive Gesamtkunstwerk that imitates real-life by accommodating to different points of view. By shifting the context in which it's understood, "Cathartic Odyssey" tries to remind us that the meaningful elements of our lives are always there, it's the pattern through which we perceive them that materializes meaning out of them.
